Style Guide
Typography
I used the Timeless font provided by WIX. I chose this font because I considered it to be one of the more readable fonts. It also has a very classic, clean look that I felt would add a tasteful touch to the minimalist aesthetic. I chose to scale the font as large as it would possibly go in order to increase readability. On some of my pages, the font is black while the background is white while on other pages it is the other way around. I chose to do this because the contrast from page to page makes the website more visually interesting. In addition, the stark contrast of the font and the background color increases readability.
Color and Images
I primarily chose white and black to be the main colors of my site because they are not distracting and they are neat when paired together. However, I added touches of colors to some pages so that the minimalist aesthetic would not appear dull. For example, I added touches of light blue to the Home page and I added a pop of red on the Analysis page. I added stock photos provided by Wix for aesthetic purposes. The only photo that is not provided by Wix is the image of The Elements of Style, which I found on a blog. I have cited the blog on my references page.
Design Format
I divided my website into six sections: home, literature review, analysis, reflection, references, and the style guide. I did so in order to keep the information concise and clear. I also added headings primarily on the home page and for the style guide to increase readability. For the larger sections of texts where I felt like headings may be superfluous, I divided text into manageable paragraphs for the sake of readability.
Grammar and Point of View
I chose to write in first person for the purpose of this project because I want to clearly convey that the synthesis, analysis, and reflection of the sources are my own speculation. In addition, this topic personally adheres to me and my interests and I wanted to further convey that I am personally invested in my topic of editing and inclusion.
